How Lomography Changed My Life

I feel very lucky to be born in a time where I can freely and openly express myself and actually connect with people from halfway across the world who I haven’t even met!

For living right in the central hub of parties, shows and awesome music in Montreal, there are so many opportunities to snag some awesome snaps wherever you go. Although I must admit that still one of my favorite things to do on a Friday night happens to be just chilling in my apartment drinking wine, listening to my boyfriend’s records and sifting through the millions of awesome photos from fellow lomographers I’ve been getting to know from all over the world.

Lomography changed my life – seriously!

It all started about 5 years ago when I discovered my little fisheye camera in a novelty shop in Vermont. I carried that thing everywhere I went and before I knew it, I quickly became known as “the girl with the crazy photos”.

About a year later, my boyfriend got me a Holga as a present for my birthday and encouraged me to experiment a little and venture out a bit more. To be honest, I was nervous to use my Holga because 120 film is so much more expensive than 35mm! But once I gave it a try and got my negatives back, I was hooked! So off I went practicing and experimenting with my little plastic friend. I mastered the controls and the technical side of how the camera worked, but I got to a point where I just felt bored with it all because I had no real feedback. My photos would just sit unnoticed.

ENTER LOMOGRAPHY.COM!

I wasn’t joking when I said lomography changed my life! This website has been my platform for creativity and is such an amazing community of inspiring artists from all over the world who have given me so much constrictive and positive feedback. Although the Internet will probably take over our lives one day, we often forget how lucky we are to have a tool that lets us instantly communicate with thousands of other artists from all over the world, share photos and ideas and inspiration. Since I’ve found this community I’ve never felt so ready to rock this world through my lens.

A serious thanks to all the talent on this site. Cheers!
