The strange but charming Kate Bush is back with a new album, Director's Cut. Check out the album cover - a nod to her love for analog!
WHO: Kate Bush
GENRE: Art Rock/Prog Rock
LABEL: Fish People
Whenever Kate Bush is mentioned, her fluid dance movements and graceful eccentricity come to mind. 30 years later and she still remains poised and full of ideas. Director’s Cut features fresher versions of two of her old albums (The Red Shoes from 1993 and The Sensual World from 1989).
“I’ve always been a big fan of analog, and I wanted to try and warm up the sound of the tracks (from The Red Shoes).” she said in a Pitchfork interview. She also expressed her fondness for vinyl: “When you’d buy vinyl, you’d have this lovely-sized object with a lovely picture, and you’d read the lyrics and usually there was something artistic that went with it.” (Read the rest of the interview here).
The first single off the new album is “Deeper Understanding” which tells the story of a relationship between a lonely person and his computer.
Here’s the video of “Deeper Understanding”:
