The world cannot deny the artistry of Stanley Kubrick, both as an ace photographer and a brilliant filmmaker. One of his notable works, the 1971 film adaptation of Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange, is among the fourteen timeless movies that will be featured in this year’s roster of Cannes Classics.

The restored version of Kubrick’s controversial yet critically-acclaimed film is scheduled to be revealed on May 19th at the Cannes Film Festival, to mark the ’Clockwork’s’ 40th anniversary. Many fans and film enthusiasts will also rejoice once the 40th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray release hits the stores on the end of May.

Alex DeLarge and his band of fellow delinquents, Pete, Georgie, and Dim, will once again shock viewers in this satirical dark comedy—once infamous for the grisly Ludovico Technique—that kept people dead silent in the moviehouses four decades ago. However, according to ‘Clockwork’ star Malcolm McDowell, today’s generation of filmgoers now take the movie “as they (cast and crew) meant it”—a very black comedy that is “more psychological than ketchup on the screen.”
