Analogue Love In Motion

After seeing the article, "Lomo In Motion", by j-robert in Analogue Lifestyle, I decided to share two of my student films from....7 years ago! Join me in my nostalgia with these projects that kick started my love for Lomography and everything analogue.

I moved to L.A. to study film 10 years ago, and now that I think about it, my passion for film seemed to have started ever since. I started out with a video camera like most people, but once I shot with a 16mm movie camera, I couldn’t go back to digital any longer! I must admit I’m a little embarrassed to show those films…awful lighting and…well, weird plot.

The first one is called “Whatever Happened to Pepe and Mimi?” and unfortunately, Youtube has disabled the audio due to the copyright issues :(

And here’s the second one, “Fantasy Of Ms. Mehrmand.”
Before you watch this one, I have to warn you…it’s PG 18! It is very sexual :p Haha. I remember how embarrassed I was when I found out some of my classmates brought their parents to the film screening on the final day.

Even though those films may seem a little “strange,” I think they really represent me…
I hope you enjoy! :)

WHAAAAA !!!! FANTASTIC SATOMI !!!! YOU ROOOOOOCK !!! Loved both, the second is quite dark huh ? And I'm a big fan of Cujo/Amon Tobin !!! So you really got me there ! And this post is bringing back to my mind a dream I have... I don't know if I'll ever do it... Imagine: You shoot slide film with a 16mm camera (or 8mm, or even 35 or 70mm if you own oil rigs), then you cross-process the film, then you project it and film the projection with a digital camera, and finally, you invert the image under a video software... And you get a cross-processed film !!! You think it's feasible ? Anyway... Congrats again, I loved your movies ! : )

Love them both Satomi, very good work, and very effective editing on Fantasy of Ms. Mehrmand - perhaps I will upload my works as well now.

Great work satomi! The first one makes me think at a kind of expressionnist silent movie, and the style of the second has indeed something of wong kar wai (specially for the BW mood like in "Happy together")

Yes, the soundtrack of the first movie are awesome, remind me of traditional Japanese music (?) and I love the idea when Kiki the witch ask Pepe for riding her broom, TOP NOTCH. But the last question about the doll are quite confusing, but this awesome noir movie are better to watch rather than to understand ;)
