Top 10 Interview with a Photographer Series #6: Yosigo

We are happy to introduce you to our Top 10 Interview with a Photographer series! Meet photographer #6, Yosigo, as interviewed by horaciorv. Curious as to where he got his alias? Read on and get to know more about this photographer/graphic designer!

What does YOSIGO mean?
It’s about a poetry that my father wrote for me in my 24th birthday, it means something like “go ahead”. My father says that when I was younger I could be working on something for hours and hours, even when the
result wasn’t good enough! It’s like the “carry on” meaning but with a lot of good feelings.

How did you start in photography?
When I was a kid I used to spend a lot of time taking pictures with my father’s camera. When I reached twenty, I took a photography course, and when the digital time arrived I worked with it, and I had the opportunity to make a lot of experiments, but after time I got back to analogue world.

Do you have a favorite song?
Yep, Blue Monday from New Order !!!

Choose one of your favorite pictures, and tell us why?
This one that I took long time ago in Macba (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art), sorry I don’t know why, but it feels so special to me.

Name the things you can not live without
My family, coffee, the newspaper, and the Real Sociedad (A football team in Spain)!

What is the better time of the day for take pictures?
There is no better time, it’s all about your theme picture, and I think the coolness is to take advantage of the moment light for your photo. (it sounds so arrogant, he, he, he)

If you trip on a magic camera, what would be your wishes?
Health, Money and love! … and go back to the 60’s or 70’s for take pictures in North America.

Nowadays everything is digital, why go analogue?
Buufff !!! Because is absolutely impossible to get the same results, and for me all the analogical process is super important. Is not the same to take fifty pictures to take a good, t to take the time to think and fell one, and them to take the film to develop, wait for it, pick it up and scan it! I really enjoy that, even better that the final result!

Name one photographer that you like.
Yes, Stephen Shore.

One advice that you can give to new photographers!
Enjoy the process!
