LC-A Big Book Chapter 15: Relocation of the Production to the Filiale

In 1986 the complete production of the Lomo Kompakt Automat was transferred from the main LOMO PLC factories, otherwise known as the “Home Base”, to these nearby works.

In 1985/86 at the time of the high level meeting in Moscow the “Filiale” (Subsidiary Works) in St Petersburg was also completed. As a result the production of the LOMO LC-A ran at full speed and new workers were continually being signed up. On good days in the LOMO-PLC factories there were up to 25,000 people. Work soon began in the new production hall called Filiale; this large three storey building with 100,000 square metres of floor space was purpose built for the production of the LOMO LC-A.

In 1986 the complete production of the Lomo Kompakt Automat was transferred from the main LOMO PLC factories, otherwise known as the “Home Base”, to these nearby works. At each of the sites production of the LOMO LC-A was proceeding full steam ahead and from 1988 to 1991 they achieved their maximum output – when 15,000 LOMO LC-A’s were manufactured each month!
