Fisheye Rumble in the Pond Chapter 39: The Lomographers Say: ”Truly Enlightening”

Creative individuals talk about their love for Lomography and of course, the Fisheye!

Mark Pontius
21, musician
Los Angeles, USA

I’m Mark. Music, art, photography, and surfing are the four loves of my life. The great thing about the sen pursuits is that there are no real rules in doing them – you just make your own rules and everything that you create within it is your own. I’m obsessed with being different and I hate routine. I have a lot of trouble keeping the same job for more than a couple months – which has become a problem – but I do what I can to keep things fresh in life.

Favorite Fisheye feature: My favorite is the “B” (Bulb) setting for the shutter on the Fisheye No. 2. It allows you to expose the film for as long as you like, and with the lens being fisheye, the pictures always turn out great.
Expert technique: The closer you keep things to the lens; the more interesting the pictures turn out. Things warp and distort close to the lens – giving you a really great Fisheye feel.
Lomography? Different.
Message: I have yet to pull out any of my Lomo cameras in public and not have someone ask “hey, what kinda of camera is that man?” Lomographic cameras are not just good looking, but easy too – anyone can use them because there ARE no rules. Just point and shoot, and Lomography does the rest.

“Rumble in the Pond” is a 368-page hardcover book bursting with 170-degree Fisheye madness. Inside your will find exclusive tips and tricks, Lomographer profiles & interviews, an informative history of Fisheye lenses and goldfish breeding, and several hundred eye-popping barrel-distorted fisheye images.
