LC-A Big Book Chapter 38: New Features for the Camera

The first accessory is the “Splitzer”. This small piece of plastic is simply fixed in front of the LOMO LC-A+ lens and by pressing the MX button, your photo can be sliced into several parts with completely different themes. Further accessories comprise the Wide Angle Lens, to be attached to the front of the camera’s lens, as well as the KRAB underwater case.

As a result of pooling together all the ideas from Lomographers worldwide, the Lomographic Society and the designer of the camera in China, the LOMO LC-A+ camera now has a few new features and improvements:

• Firstly, the camera has an MX button. By pressing this little button located on the underside of the camera you can shoot more photos on the same “frame” and very easily create double and multiple exposures.

• Secondly, it has a new little window displayed on the back of the camera showing the ASA number of the film. This is particularly practical for very active Lomographers as they will always know what film they are shooting with and whether there is actually any film inside the camera!

• Thirdly, the camera has an ASA setting of 800 and 1600. This creates more possibilities and freedom to Lomograph in bad conditions, which the LOMO LC-A+ can now handle better. The camera also has a cable release thread connection, which is very helpful for complicated long exposures, and it still has the automatic exposure function. This means that the LOMO LC-A+ always has the correct exposure time and the aperture is automatically selected for you, freeing you to Lomograph. One of the simplest but most imaginative innovations of the LOMO LC-A+ is that small slots are added on either side of the lens. Via these “Front Grooves” plenty of clever accessories can be fitted, which extend the optics and possibilities of the camera.

This beautiful red case was made in the 1980s and is an original reproduction of the rare LOMO LC-A underwater holder from St Petersburg. The KRAB makes it possible to take your LOMO LC-A as far as 20m beneath the water’s surface.
