Kodak Elitechrome EBX (35mm, 100 iso) User-Review
written by zark on September 8th, 2009 , 15 comments (9 votes)

The EBX is a slide film for daylight not only with it´s 100 ISO sensitivity but also with it´s color balance. The X stands for Extra Color, which is no overstatement.

It was my first slide film, bought at a time when I had no clue what I was doing. I just bought the only slide film I could get at my local drugstore. I wanted those wild colors I had seen in many Lomographers’ albums, and I wanted them now, and fast! My Lomo LC-A was fed with the EBX, and being shocked about the high price I hoped for some great pictures. The sun was shining, the trigger finger had some happy time, 36 exposures were fastly made.

But before the joy of fine prints in your hands comes the burden of processing, in this case finding a lab willing to cross process. To make a long story short, I found a lab who does and for the cost of a dozen normal films and prints I held in my hands pictures that stunned me: Wild, vivid colors, large contrast and even more X-pro-ness than I expected! Nearly every picture was a gem and even when I look at them now after over a year they are still among my favorites. I tried other slide films, the results were good but none of them took me to lomo-heaven!

So here it is, my all time favorite film, the Kodak Elitechrome EBX: Try it!

Shot 7 where the balloon is taking off is amazing. Really great gallery. I'd love to get my hands on some of this film.
