Kodak Ektachrome Lumiere 100X (120, 100 iso) User-Review
written by awm1 on August 31st, 2009 , 12 comments (14 votes)

I first stumbled upon Kodak’s Lumiere when I was searching eagerly for a bargain on Ebay’s expired film selection. After wandering through the listings, I came across a particular lot of 10 or so rolls of a slide film I had never heard of before: Ektachrome Lumiere. Off of a whim, I snagged the good deal, knowing really nothing about what I was buying.

Afterwards, I tried to do a little research. It turns out that there is VERY LITTLE information about it at all. However, I managed to obtain a little knowledge. I turns out that Ektachrome Lumiere was a professional transparency film launched by Kodak in ’93. It offered fine grain and saturated, warm colors. I assume it was discontinued shortly after, for all the rolls of it I have seen have been generally marked with an expiration date circa 1996 or so.

Enough with all the technical babble- on to the real stuff! A while back, I sent in about five rolls to my local lab to have xproed. I was a little nervous due to the film’s age, however the results put me in a state of near ecstasy. It turns out that Kodak’s Lumiere behaves similarly to its modern cousin E100G—giving vivid saturation and punchy, deep, royal blues.

I was so happy that I even bought more! Overall, I highly recommend this particular film. Due to how old Ektachrome Lumiere is, might be very hard to find, but if you do, it is a wonderful little gem indeed!
