Some time ago, I found an auction on Ebay which probably looked like a bunch of crap for any non lomographer guy… But not for me! This way I got 20 rolls of Kodak Ektar 100 (expired 1996), and 20 rolls of Kodak Ektachrome 160T, expired from… 1989!!!
These are almost expired of 20 years plus the fact I didn’t know how they had been stocked until now were a bit frightening but the price was so low I decided to give it a try, and it was worth it!
Being so old, this film like elder people has become a bit over demanding (or blind!), and it needs good light or a bit of overexposure to give you its best! You’d better go shooting outside, and possibly on sunny days with ET!
I’ve never tried to process it in E6 yet (but I will as soon as I can), but C41 gave me some cool results! I was a bit skeptical when I got back my negative strip, which apeared very dense and dark greened color, but the results after an accurate scanning whipped out all my doubts!
Low light yields heavy grain while bright sun will give you some quite sharp pictures, but the most noticeable effect of this film is the purple/violet cast it gives you! Not the Agfa blue nor the Fuji pink, I don’t think I ever saw this particular shift from other films, for sure not from mine!
Even if it’s quite difficult to use and scan, this film has a great personality, so if you happen to see some or on ebay or abandoned in your local shop, don’t hesitate, get it while you can!
