Porst Photo is one of the main photographic retailer in Germany and they also sell their own name-brand films. There I’ve found a cheap slide film called “x-chrome 200” and decided to buy some rolls of this unknown film.
Of course, I wanted to see what kind of reaction this film could have when x-processed: I was really surprised as for my first roll, taken outdoor with my LCA and a grey weather, the pictures had a nice greeny coloration but without a too strong saturation. And I was very happy about these results because during the shooting, I thought myself I’d rather used b&w for such a grey & “colourless” day…. and the 200 ISO were enough to capture the low light of this day….
Then I tried this film in my Yashica Electro and wanted to test it in night & indoor conditions, with and without flash. The results were really good, even if the green colour i got from my first roll didn’t come out. The colours were well contrasted, the saturation was very soft (for a x-pro film shot indoor with flash…) and I liked the general quality of the pictures.
Well, if you’re looking for a cheap slide film, with a good colour & light treatment which can also produce a “soft” x-pro effect, then try this one out, it’s really worth of it!
