Fuji Sensia (35mm, 100 iso) user-review
written by dirklancer on January 2nd, 2009 , 9 comments (2 votes)

Purple Haze! Fuji Sensia 100 gets in my brain, each time I use it doesn’t quite come out the same
Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why…excuse me while I kiss this guy. (?)

I’ve tried Fuji Sensia 100 only three times so far, each time I’ve cross processed it, and each time it comes out with a different dominating hue. My favorite is clearly the purple haze, but it also came out with an almost redscale feel to it last time.

Purple haze all around
Don’t know if I’m comin’ up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whatever it is that film put a spell on me

I took one roll to Walmart, and after they gave me a hard time about “trying to wreck their machines” with my foreign film (idiots), they tried to colour correct the prints, and it turned out weird in a not-xpro-weird kind of way. After that, I took it to Costco, and only some of the staff there treat me and my slide film like supervillains.

HELP ME HELP ME
OH NO NO…NO

Some of my favorites so far and the night shots – they came out with a rich glowing red that feels almost Martian.

Purple haze all in my eyes
Don’t know if it’s day or night
You got me blowin’, blowin’ my mind
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?

So, you may want to use this in lots of sun – to get more detail and lighter purples, and less sun gives you rich reds…but I might just be blowin’ my mind…

NO, HELP ME AW YEAH!
OH NO NO OH HELP ME ……etc.

wow, i love shot 5! the night shots are great, the other shots are great too, but i do like the redscale look to the night shots!

it's strange how they come out in different ways. this happened with a sensia400 i did recently, it was weird!
great review, i love the hendrix style review technique!

I git to get me some of that! tell wallmart there is no risk to their machines what soever - e6 and c41 are compatible and deigned to be developed at the same temp - if you had hasked them to do e2 or e4 well then yes they have a point but E6 is no probs - tell them i said so! Grrrrrrr

I don't know if that was intentional, but the lyric is 'excuse me while I kiss the sky'.

    @ yoharryyo :D
It sounds way better when I sing "Kiss this guy" :P

when I wrote this review, I was in a ridiculous mood; thanks for indulging me LSI!

Wait --- were your shots color corrected or something??

    @ ethermoon
The fine folks at Walmart tried to "fix" shots 1,2,8,14, & 18.
I included the colour corrected prints, not the scanned negatives, to illustrate the results...

I love the "hands" and "feet" shots, and the last one (the flower close up) is mind blowing.

Original lyric is "kiss the sky" but Hendrix did sing it "kiss this guy" on some gigs!

I just sent one roll of this film to be developed (x-pro too). I wish my pics will have those funky colours too!
