We all love black and whites, don’t we? The “noir-et-blanc” effect, like a silent film that was stopped in 1/250 seconds, framed and captured like some serial film killer! Accordingly, it was approved that Kodak T-Max 400 is the world’s sharpest 400-speed B&W film.
I recently dug out from a friend’s photolab some old and expired Kodak T-Max 400 films. I tried them all with my Zorki 4K. With this film, it can sweep your feet away with it’s dramatic touch. Fine grains all over, balanced black and white colors, and most of all, there are a few knock-outs when this film is already expired or was kept out of temperature. Finishing all the rolls, I got some photos which are bluish and yellow. I don’t know how this happened but to think the film was just kept in a warm storage, maybe this gave the colors a kick back!
Using it in my Zorki 4K, the film was never a bully. It was almost a perfect match. The sharpness of the photos are your bestfriend, the grains which probably does come out on low-light shots are somehow the “drama” added to the photo you have just created. I love this film. It is one of my favorite black and white film. Sharp and fine-grained, this are all what I need. I think using this film in other cameras like LC-A would eventually make you hunger for more B/W shots!
The next time you’ll look for B/W film, try this Kodak T-Max! I know you’ll love this film as much as I do.
