It is not easy to find a good black and white film in my country, especially the 120 ones. However, I am lucky enough to joined a photography exhibition in Kuala Lumpur last month and stumbled upon various shots made with this film and it was love at first sight, so I bought some rolls of Ilfords back home.

Ilford Delta 100 is my first medium format black and white film so far. I had the chance to load it in my Holga since one of my friends from overseas is coming to KL to visit me, Adam Goodger. I said to myself that I would make some of the most memorable pictures of my life using this amazing film.

We went to Malaysia Heritage in Melacca and finished one roll of this black and white film.

It was a very surprising when i saw the results immediately after I got it processed and scanned. The tones of the black and white are so contrasted even though it is just a 100ISO film. The grain effects are as beautiful as I’ve never ever expected. Moreover, it produces such detailed and sharp images. Holga also helped by giving some of my shots some subtle white light leaks. I just love the shot of the two guitarists, the way the shot came out using this film simply is moving and dramatic.

One thing unbelievable with this black and white film is it still produces very good images even though of it its low ISO. To me, this medium format black and white film can create memories that you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
