Kodak Ektar (35mm, 100 iso)
written by ouroborosx on October 29th, 2008 , 10 comments (2 votes)

One of the most promising little bits of news over the past year that proves analogue photography is alive and well (besides the excitement and passion we see here every day) is the announcement by Kodak of a brand new 35mm color film coming out this year.

Kodak boasts that their new Professional Ektar 100 35mm film is the finest grain color negative film in the world.

“Featuring ISO 100 speed, high saturation and ultra-vivid color, EKTAR 100 offers the finest, smoothest grain of any color negative film available today.

Ideal for scanning, and offers extraordinary enlargement capability from a 35mm negative. A perfect choice for commercial photographers and advanced amateurs."

Kodak had a booth at Photokina this year, and recurving and I managed to get a couple of sample rolls of this new film to test out.

The results are in, and I am happy to report that Kodak has outdone themselves with this new film. The colors are truly spectacular for a color negative film. Every red pops, the skin tones are true, and the photos capture the weather of the day like a memory.

This is truly a momentous occasion in analogue photography, and we can’t wait to get our hands on some more of this film!
