Paint the Night: Masterpieces in the Dark ended about 3 years ago

Ready your brushes and join us for a light painting adventure as we roam around Alamo Square Park at nightfall. Learn the basics, shoot and hang with fellow Lomographers and paint your very own masterpieces.

Light painting is a fun technique that gives great and surprising results. It is the process of creating exposures using a moveable light source (or moving the camera) to create an awesome effect of neon ribbons across your photo – and many other en*light*ened outcomes.

Some things to bring (totally optional):
- A light source. A flashlight, lighter, colored LEDs, cellphones etc. Anything that generates light! Colored LED lights can be purchased cheaply at most grocery stores and at liquor stores. The light source will be our “brushes” and the night will be our “canvas.”
- A Tripod. Since we will be working with super long shutter speeds and exposures, a tripod will be convenient, If not you can rely on a friend to help steady your shot.
- A camera with a bulb setting or a cable release. Diana’s, Diana Mini’s have a bulb setting and LC-A’s are compatible with cable releases.
- YOU and some friends!

And of course, we will be providing more than enough loaner cameras and film for those who don’t have a camera with a bulb setting or a cable release handy.

All aspiring artists meet at the Scott St. stairs at 7:30pm.

See you guys there!
