Dubai showed some LomoLove and celebrated the LC-A’s 25th birthday on Saturday, 20th June at Shelter
A recent addition to Dubai’s creative scene – a great space where people can meet, mingle and share ideas. The Lomo Party was an ideal place to celebrate and Shelter was more than happy to host the party.
The crowd started coming in and to some Lomography was a new discovery, to others a relief that there is a Lomography movement here.
Two screens had lomographs and a presentation about the history of the LC-A on a loop. Lomopanels were spread around that peaked interest and questions about the images, the colours, the locations.
Snacks and drinks were enjoyed by all and not one, but two LC-A cakes were baked, which disappeared even faster than the free birthday goodies. So many asked for the recipe!
The BBC documentary about Lomography, “Life through a Lens” was shown twice on the same night to a packed screening room, also in Shelter.
Party hats were worn, some followed the “it was acceptable in the 80s” dress code and good times were shared, and all of this to a great soundtrack – tunes only from 1984 – put together by the lovely Discoballbreaker
