Lomography Gallery Store NYC '80's in NYC Photo Hunt Winner Announcement!

On June 6th, 2009 we had our first ever photo hunt event at the Lomography Gallery Store NYC. Since we are celebrating the anniversary month/year/day of our beloved LC-A camera, which was born on June 19th, 1984, we themed our photo hunt “80’s in NYC.”
So we created a list of places, things, people for our adventurous photo scavengers to find in New York City that had some connection to the 1980’s, and we gave each team member an LC-A+, some film, and 3 hours to go hunting. Each item was worth a certain point value, and the members of the team with the most points would win a special prize (a prize package of LC-A anniversary gear)!
Here is the list of items and their point values:
- Thriller Zombies (just kidding… or are we?) (10 points)
- Obama’s apartment when he lived in NYC in the ’80’s (339 East 94th Street) (5 points)
- Someone wearing a “Frankie says “relax”” t-shirt (3 points)
- An actual flock of seagulls (3 points, pigeons earn 1 point)
- Ghostbusters firehouse (14 N. Moore St. • New York, NY) (2 points)
- Apple store (The first Macintosh computer was released in 1984!) (2 points)
- Movie theater from Desperately Seeking Susan (144 Bleecker St) (2 points)
- Someone with an 80’s hairstyle (big hair!) or at least 2 members of your group wearing 80’s hair-band wigs! (2 points)
- Someone wearing spandex (2 points)
- 16 candles (literally) (2 points)
- A cassette tape! (2 points)
- Legwarmers (2 points)
- A boombox! (2 points)
- Baby On Board window sign (1 point, 2 points if it’s in a car window)
- Someone wearing Risky Business sunglasses (1 point)
- Pose with a vinyl copy of “1984” by Van Halen (1 point)
- Rubik’s Cube (1 point)
- A side ponytail (1 point)
