"Unframed" - A Lomographic Exhibition at "SOHO in Ottakring" Festival ended about 6 years ago

A Lomographic project by Katrin Hofmann and Matthias Hombauer www.lomohomes.com/soho The 2 Vienna based Lomographers originated a photo shooting of their favourite Viennese location- „the Brunnenmarkt“ area in the 16th district of good old Vienna using their LC-A. This multicultural market area with it’s high percentage of immigrants provided a perfect basis for an international double exposure project. The films were handed out to various Lomographers around the world which shot their favourite home town districts.

The 2 Vienna based Lomographers originated a photo shooting of their favourite Viennese location – “the Brunnenmarkt” area in the 16th district of good old Vienna using their LC-A. This multicultural market area with it’s high percentage of immigrants provided a perfect basis for an international double exposure project. The films were handed out to various Lomographers around the world which shot their favourite home town districts.

The idea behind the project is to show the integration of different cultures in a Lomographic way – no restriction in any geographical, cultural or photographical spirit –
and is linked to the problem of integration of the Turkish, Ex-Yugoslavian, Indian and African immigrants in the “Brunnenmarktviertel”. The result is supposed to be a visual presentation of mixed, divers lifestyles → “unframed”

First impressions here:

The Multicultural visual explosion will be displayed during the festival (Mai 17th – May 31st) at the place, where it all started:
In the centre of the “Brunnenmarktviertel” – adequate to its surrounding – in a Lomographic market stand!
Opening: Saturday May 17th 2008, 7PM
Adress: Brunnengasse 65/Friedmanngasse,
1160 Vienna, Austria

Important note by the 2 initiators themselves: “We would like to indulge you with free tasty wine! Only condition: bring your own glass! See you at the Brunnenmarket”

The SOHO IN OTTAKRING festival has grown out of an artist’s intiative 10 years ago and is based in the vicinity of the daily street market called Brunnenmarkt. It is an area with 36% inhabitants of Ex-Yugoslavian, Turkish, Indian, and other origins. The shops and restaurants, as well as the market itself, correspond to this ethnic mix.
During the festival, empty spaces as well as public space, stores, restaurants, and artists’ studios are used for presentations of all kinds.
The range of artistic work is wide reaching from “classical” exhibitions to social and political committed projects which focus on issues concerning the area as well as the whole of society such as: urban development, precarious labour, life as asylum seeker, and life in migration.
