Now we are talking the real old school: When you talk about the United States or even Germany, we are talking about countries, which are as young as a child, who is starting to speak its first words. If we want to talk about adults and grandfather we will have to talk about the fabulous Uzbekistan and the city of Bukhara.

Uzbekistan is a fantastic country with several ancient cities, which were once part of the legendary silk road. One of them is Buchara. But I am not so much a historic site-checker, if you know what I mean. I rather go for the undiscovered urban places that hold a certain arcane quality.

The largest country of Central Asia is Kasakhstan. But that doesn't mean that it is densely populated. The opposite is the case. The former Soviet Republic is rich of oil-resources but otherwise the nature is very poor. The harsh and high temperatures make it a not very fruitful soil. But besides the steppe of wild grass the soviet leadership tried to implement monocultures such as wheat or cotton in a very big style. So eventually the people, who formerly lived as nomads and had huge herds of sheep and cattle, became a nation of peasants and filled the largest chamber of wheat in the union.

Uzbekistan is mainly known, for its ancient cities on the old silk road such as Bukhara and Samarkand. Despite the beauty of these towns Tashkent became the capital of the Uzbek SSR in 1930. The great history of Tashkent is not really visible. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that Ghengis Khan in 1219 and the Russians in 1865 destroyed it big time. Still, there remained some major and the only well preserved mosques of the areas.
