Burj Dubai - The highest tower of the world

5 comments and 1 voteThe tallest of ´em all. Oil is money and money is useful. The sheikhs in Dubai understood that time is playing against them and that their oil-resources are vanishing sooner then they can count to three. Therefore they started to build the most astonishing buildings and sights to attract more and more tourists. They have the only 7star Hotel with the Burj al Arab. They have the island-groups the palm and the world in the shape of their names. Michael Schumacher and David Beckham will be neighbours on their private islands.

Emirates Terminal 3

one comment and 1 voteColossal. That is how I would describe Emirates’ dedicated terminal in Dubai. After hours in economy class, it was such a delight to see wide open spaces to walk about; The map said that you can walk from end-to-end in about 20 minutes, but I doubt that because of the shear volume of fellow passengers that gets in the way.

Bastakiya (Dubai)

1 voteAway from the hustle and bustle of the modern Dubai lies a small and tranquil area that is filled with wind tower buildings. The area is called Bastakiya and wind towers buildings are the traditional homes unique to the countries around the Arabian Gulf. Wind towers are built on the rooftops to funnel air into the houses to cool them in the summer (basically, an old fashioned air conditioner).

Ski Dubai

2 votesThe Emirates are too over the top to be comprehended by a simple mind like me. But one thing I understood perfectly so far: deliver entertainment and sensations no matter of the costs. One perfect example for this is the ski Dubai! As we know, Dubai is in the middle of the desert! Desert equals sun equals heat equals no snow equals question. Answer: the sheikhs just build an amusement dome where there is a ski-world.

Emirates Towers Hotel

1 voteDubai, inside a hotel room in Emirates Towers Hotel overlooking Sheikh Zayed Road. Sheikh Zayed road is lined with high rise office and apartment buildings and quite a few five star hotels. The roads are always busy during rush hour. When it isn't rush hour, the road is like a race track with crazy speedy drivers scaring the normal drivers. Sometimes it's like a scene from Wacky Races.
