    There are lots of cities with green parks in the center, but there is no one like Vigeland’s Park. What makes it special is that is full of sculptures of children, women, men and elder: that’s life.

    Lofoten is a group of islands in the north of Norway. Despite being north of the arctic circle the atmosphere is warm and the nature is wild and beautiful with white sandy beaches and steep mountains. The people there are humorous and open (more so than the rest of the Norwegian population, it seems!

    As a student of Scandinavian languages and literature I came to Bergen in October this year to work on my final thesis about a contemporary Norwegian author. I had been granted a scholarship by the state of Norway, which allowed me to stay in Bergen for three month and do my research at the local university. Everybody who has been through writing his or her final thesis for university knows what a frightening project that can be. Have my studies really provided me with the scientific competence I need to write such a work? Is my topic good enough? Will I find the material I need? Will I have enough time?
