Gokarna a Peaceful Destination

by -a-l-b-e-r-t-o-

6 comments and 5 votesGokarna is definitely a magnificent place for a beach holiday but also nice to spend time in the village, temples are everywhere. It is downright inexpensive. Food and accommodation believe me is dirt-cheap on these beaches.

Taj Mahal, India

by wil6ka
posted 9 months ago
10 comments and 2 votesI am not such a touristy traveller, checking out all the sites and then getting drunk with your native co-travellers. No, I want to see, what the locals do, feel and think. So my tracks are different to the ones of the masses. But there are certainly some spots that you have to see, when you go abroad. So I went to Taj Mahal and to write it from the beginning: I was disappointed.

Meherangarh Fort, Jaipur

by wil6ka
posted 9 months ago
3 commentsAfter you have taken a trip to India, you most likely have seen many temples, forts and palaces. But eventually you don’t really know any more how they are called and where they have been at. A phenomenon also witnessed while traveling in China or Japan. I am quite grateful for the Cosmotourist idea, because it gives me the opportunity to do some research again and to understand, where I have been. Such a missing spot is the Meherangarh Fort close to the big city of Jodhpur.

Jodhpur Train-Station, India

by wil6ka
posted 9 months ago
2 comments and 1 voteI Have to recommend you to check out the main train station in Jodhpur. Honestly it is a must and an adventure, but still it is hard on your nerves! During our stay in Northern India we pretty much stuck to the service of our driver Karma and his beautiful white Ambassador.

Jaisalmer and The Desert Wind Turbines

by maxpinckers
posted 10 months ago
4 comments and 3 votesJaisalmer is the closest city to the Pakistani border in the NW of Rajasthan, one of India’s most beautiful states. It lies in the heart of the Thar Desert in the middle of nowhere. Jaisalmer is the last stop before you take your chances in the hot, windy, dry desert dunes of north India. With all kinds of merchants, vendors and markets the place city bursting with life. There is something very attractive about the chaos and bustle of Indian cities that I just can’t explain.

Varkala, Kerala's Goa

by -a-l-b-e-r-t-o-
posted 11 months ago
1 voteIn Varkala it had just stopped raining when I arrived with a crowded bus. Four hours standing with the ticket inspector that walk on human bodies to be paid from everyone. This is the price to pay if you don’t book two days before or more a train especially at the end of August when in Kerala there is the Onam festival.

Taste of Mysore

2 votesAn interesting city, in the south of India, with large roads and nice buildings, above all the Marajà Palace, an imposing building, with a huge garden and different temples dedicated to the various Hindu divinities and some elephants used for ceremonies. From Bangalore is really simple to get there by train.

Mandore Monkey Park

by wil6ka
posted about 1 year agoIndia is exciting but it is wild, maybe because of its wilderness. In the Mandore Park it all comes together. The territory is huge and there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of people there. Not so many foreigners here, so you are watched like a monkey.

Cochin

posted about 1 year ago
3 votesIn order to get to Fort Kochi (the backpackers part of Cochin) from Ernakulam, you have to cross over a bridge and as we did so, we saw some amazing fireworks from the auto rickshaw. Our driver informed us it was some religious festival or another, which seems to be a daily celebration in India! We arrived into the main drag quite late at night but Fort Kochi appeared to be a delightful, peaceful haven, perfect for a couple of days of shanti (peace) before venturing further.

Karni Mata Rat Temple

by wil6ka
posted about 1 year agoWhen: Best in October, There is a Camel-Fair nearby Just imagine that you are in the middle of the North-Indian Desert. Just for Fun! Then you jump into a Hindu-Temple. Because there is not anything else to do and why are you in India anyway? Like me. We wanted to go to a city which streets had been flooded. But this mischief brought me to the place that flooded my imagination. The Karni Mata Temple close to Bikaner is off from any travel-route, a diamond among travelers.

Pushkar

by wil6ka

2 votesPushkar or "how Shiva became our family-priest", this could be the proper description for this story. Karma, our driver, warned us about this sacred place. There is a holy lake in the centre and basically the city was built around it.
