  About 150 photos with the topic water were taken with different lomographic cameras for this special exhibition! They are still on display at 55 Mauromichali, Athens.

  I hesitated long before doing that particular lomolocation. Why? Well… Because maybe I’d rather keep that place secret… But slowly, I realized I wanted to share this with people of lomography.   This summer I had luck to visit one of the most beautiful places in the world – Santorini Island. I was shocked when I saw that incredible view when I step out of the boat. Thousands white-blue, small houses where sitting on the edge of high, rocky, lava, mountain.

  Spinalonga is a Spinalonga island - tiny dot of land and Cretan sea guarder! It's an island situated in the Bay of Elounda. The history of the name 'Spinalonga' is in itself subject to conjecture but it is widely accepted that its roots lie somewhere in the Olous, Olondi, Elounda location and the words meaning long and thorn. Spinalonga is actually the name of the sizeable but slender peninsula and on maps the small island is identifiable by the name Kalidon.

  The exotic sandy beach of Vai with the unique palm trees wood in Europe is situated at a distance of 94 kilometers far from Aghios Nicolaos at the Northeast and 24 kilometers eastern to Sitia. It has been named after the word “vagia”, meaning “palm tree” or “rims of palm tree” in Greek. According to the local legend the wood had been grown from the stones of dates thrown away by Arab pirates or Phoenician merchants set ashore at the place.

  You have surely heard the name of Ithaca (Ιθάκη or Ithaki in Greek) in connection to Odysseus (or Ulysses), hero of Homer’s epic poems Iliad and Odyssey. The truth is it’s still unclear where Odysseus actually existed or whether he was from Ithaca (the most likely it’s that Homer was from the island or at least lived there).

  A small island hardly anyone has heard of, and the locals like it that way. It's mountainous, with rough roads, but heavenly hidden beaches, and villages spreading down Cliffside like medieval or fairy tale towns. Perseus is said to have beheaded the Medusa there, so she no longer has the power to turn you to stone, but too much sea, sand and ouzo could do the trick.
