Fortress of Kaitbay

by weechonghooi

1 voteAnother place to visit in Alexandria, it was our 2 days tour only but there are so much photos to share. So this is the Fortress of Kaitbay. The Fortress of Kaitbay is one of Alexandria most famous ancient lighthouse that was built in 279B.C. The term lighthouse has the meaning itself, but we do not see any lighthouse when we get there. The reason is easy and simple, it was already destroyed by a disaster that happened long time ago.

1 voteThe very first site visiting I touched down during my arrival in Egypt was this... The Pompey's Pillar. Or some people would prefer the so-called column of Pompeius, it depends on which one you would prefer to read.

Pyramid of Giza (Cairo)

by weechonghooi
posted about 1 year agoThe Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders Of the Ancient World. It was a breathtaking experience as we marveled there. The feeling of standing in front of a giant staircase like Pyramid, the size of each stone there is about the size of an unit standard shop lot that we see in shopping complex nowadays.

Cairo

1 voteMy friend David, Maya and I arrived in Cairo early in the morning, hailed a taxi and set off to the Talat Harb area to look for hotels. Our taxi driver (working on commission basis) drove us to his hotel where we were dragged in, tiredness and the thought of a bed overweighed our energy to look for another one. The hotel was cheap but awful. The rooms were dirty and the English man who run it was frankly the biggest asshole I have met in my travels. Anyways, we checked in, caught a few hours of sleep and got up for a late breakfast. David stayed in bed all day while Maya and I went to explore Cairo.

2 comments and 2 votesAfter all this divine inactivity we felt that at least one day should be spent on something strenuous, to appease the conscience more than anything. So, we booked a day trip to St. Katherine's monastery and Mt. Sinai.
