Oktoberfest in Blumenau, Southern Brazil

by vjweedman
posted 19 days ago
one comment and 1 voteThe Oktoberfest in Blumenau attracts annually thousands of tourists from the whole world. Since the beginning 1984 it was immediately a great success and the Oktoberfest is today, after Munich, the second-largest "beer celebration" of the world. Already in the second year of 1985 the celebration was misplaced in 2 halls of the "Vila Germanica" complex where it also occurs up to now.

What attracts me is the free and sensual curve, in the course of its winding rivers, in the waves of the sea, in the clouds of the sky, in the body of the preferred woman. From curves is done throughout the universe. The curved universe of Einstein.” Oscar Niemeyer

5 comments and 9 votesI would never have thought that I will ever be in a Favela, not even imagined sleeping there. But the beautiful thing about life is, that things just happen. Even before I visited my friends Bru and Andi in Brazil they had chatted about a hostel in Rio de Janeiro, that is located on top of a Favela with a splendid view on the city and the sugarloaf.

Real Gabinete Português de Leitura

2 comments and 8 votesThere are few places in the world, which I have visited because of one pictures I have seen of it. Such a place is the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura. A colonial library in the centre of Rio. A couple of years ago I was intrigued by a massive grand format picture from Andreas Gursky. He is one of the most famous photographers of our time, he surely is the most expensive one. His technique is to manipulate and enlarge pictures. His topic is the gathering of large groups and the enhancements of architectonic structures. He also chose the Gabinete as a sujet and that was, why I went there.

Situated at Ibirapuera neighborhood on the south side of the city, Parque do Ibirapuera is the biggest park in São Paulo, it is to São Paulo as Central Park is to New York. 2 comments and 1 voteA small town on the Preguica River (Laziness River), its riverside setting and sandy patches gives it a charm of its own. Five buses a day run from São Luís, last one at 6:30 PM, 4 hours, 25 R$. Barreirinhas is a dusty town, it has a main street and a few dirt roads and lots of mango trees .

4 comments and 2 votesWhen I decided to come back to Brazil, I studied the geographic map and I was fascinating to discover this big island at the mouth of the Amazon and Tocantins rivers. It’s roughly the sides of the Netherlands and Switzerland, but no more than a dozen villages are scattered in Marajò.
