Old Ballarat Train Station

by kirri-joy
posted 9 months ago
5 comments and 1 voteThe Ballarat Train Station is a two-minute walk from the city center in Ballarat. Despite that new fast trains have been installed, the structure of the station remains the same as it was in the 1860's. It is also the spot where I went to the first Ballarat Lomographer's meet up! That was a spectacular evening involving Holga's, tripods, light meters, the golden hour of light, and lengthy discussions about photography.

Hanging Rock, Victoria

by kirri-joy
posted 10 months ago
4 comments and 2 votesHanging Rock is situated in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria, about an hour out of Melbourne. It is an 'all-rounder' tourist spot - there is a long history attached to it that pre-dates European Settlement, it is a rare volcanic formation, its great for walking and scrambling over rocks, the views are fantastic and it's also the spot where, fictionally, a group of schoolgirls went mysteriously missing in 1900 while on a picnic excursion.

1 voteThe Botanical Gardens in Ballarat is a 40 hectare reserve located next to Lake Wendouree, about 4km's from the city centre. It is a great Sunday-arvo picnic location, with trees, flowers, ferns, statues, walkers, and people generally having fun.

Broadbeach

one commentA little further down from the hardest hit tourist destination of the Gold Coast (surfers paradise) lies a place which offers all the entertainment of its northern sister (actually more) without that tacky tourist-built feeling. right on the beach and wrapped around the trunks of architecturally amazing buildings is a string of great restaurants and humble cafes, complete with jazz music wafting from the street corner every so often.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

by artpunk

9 comments and 6 votesThe largest monolith in the world sits majestically in the center of the Australian landmass. With the beautiful rocks of Kata Tjuta (meaning 'many heads' in the traditional aboriginal _Pinjantjatjara_ language) nearby (well, 50 kms by road distant from Uluru which _is_ nearby if you are used to driving Australian distances!), this is one of the most amazing areas in the world that you can visit.

one comment and 1 voteHay Street is a major road through the CBD of Perth, Western Australia. The street was named after Robert William Hay, the Permanent Under Secretary for Colonies. Sections of the road were called Howick Street and Twiss Street until 1897. Orientated east-west, the road starts at the Causeway traveling west through the suburbs of East Perth, Perth, West Perth, and Subiaco, where the road originally terminated at the Subiaco.

2 votesWest Como is situated 20 minutes from the Perth city. There are many nice gardens and lake to visit. You can choose to have a walk or rent a bike. Big trees, fallen leaves and nice air makes you feel more relaxing. Clean environment and green grass is exactly what you need to shoot some portrait album. You can even snap sunset pictures every evening.

Melbourne
