Take Part in the Big Lomography Competition for the Release of the Movie ON THE ROAD in Germany ended almost 2 years ago

Win an INTERRAIL Europe train pass for two and 10 other stunning prizes, including our brandnew Maps camera edition! On the 4th of October ON THE ROAD, the film adaptation of the novel by Jack Kerouac will be released in Germany and we would like to see your best shots of moments you've experienced together with your friends "on the road".

Just after his father’s death, Sal Paradise (SAM RILEY), an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty (GARRETT HEDLUND), a devastatingly charming ex-con, married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou (KRISTEN STEWART). Sal and Dean bond instantly. Determined not to get locked in to a constricted life, the two friends cut their ties and take to the road with Marylou. Thirsting for freedom, the three young people head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves.

Based on the successful novel “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac in the 1950s, the story tells about an unusual friendship of two young men and their adventurous road trip across the United States..

Walter Salles directed a wonderful road movie with some of the best current young actors in Hollywood – Sam Riley (Control), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Kirsten Stewart (The Twilight Saga), Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia) and Newcomer Tom Sturridge (Radio Rock Revolution).

ON THE ROAD is about searching for luck, freedom, love and the ultimate party — things you mostly share with friends!

One of my favourite books! I read it when I was travelling through the US 3 years ago (I started off in NYC, travelle up north to Vermont to spend 2 weeks with a radical theatre group at their commune farm, and then I went west to SF and visited another very famous radical theatre there, and also the city lights book store where the beats used to hang and got myself "howl" and other poems- i brought my Minolta but it broke the very first day!!!). Anyways, in my view, this book is so much more than about cool barbecues and stuff, it's about seeking personal freedom in the repressive and conservative US society of the 1950s through loads of sex and loads of drugs, jazz and poetry. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie, because from what I read here it sounds just like a "fun road movie thing with people wearing cool clothes", but I doubt it is, it can't be just that....

This book is my bible and kerouac is one of my fave authors! Dont think the movie will capture the essence of the book and the poetry in kerouac's prose but we shall see. I dont know why kristen stewart is a dominant actor in this movie, her character wasnt in the book... just cos tweens love her... hope this movie is ok, excited for this competition...
