To close out our week long tribute to one of the greatest photographers the world has ever known, Ansel Adams, let's have a little monochrome rumble that celebrates one of his greatest contributions - the zone system!
Ansel Adams is undoubtedly one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of photography. He is best known for his black & white work and having a hand in developing (pun intended) the Zone System. It is much touted, but criticized much as well. Love it or hate it, the Zony system has become an integral part in both the history of photography, and in understanding the nuances of monochrome work. So in celebration of Ansel Adams week here at Lomography, let’s take a look at those black & white images that best exemplify the use of the Zone system! We want to see those middle grays and textures!
