wow, that's lovely! i won't participate though, because i couldn't take the course anyways( it'd be clashing with my Master exams). plus I don't think I'd have any chance of winning anyways, plus I think only those who'd be really able to take the course should participate, because else the prize might forfeit. however, i'm so exciting so see which talented community member will win and with which photo!!!

:( For me, it's just a DREAM to win this :)

well, i gave it a second thought. i might try it (although there's no chance of winning, really). in the unlikely event of winning (haha) there will be a way...so exciting!

where do we write our dream interpretation?? It would be financially tough to move to Italy for half a year but not impossible. My skin tingles just thinking about it!

this is very exciting.

This photo represents dreaming because you are never sure what reality is. Perhaps we are dreaming all the time. (Even if it's just a daydream.) Since i was little i'm very interested in lucid dreaming, meaning the dreamer can actively participate and manipulate imaginary experiences in the dream environment. I think it's a very fascinating scientific part from a Dutch psychiatrist named Frederik van Eeden.

http://www.lomograph(…)os/14411675 I picked this photo for the contest because of the hazy way it turned out. Dreams are often not crystal clear. The image of Marilyn Monroe also represents dreams of grandeur, fame and celebrity.

http://www.lomograph(…)os/12099823 - classic daydreaming post. I picked this photo because of its simplicity. Having said that, I believe it is centered and well balanced in terms of composition, colour and subject matter.

http://www.lomograph(…)os/13955254 a bit dusty but the reason i submitted this was because it reminds me of a dream i had about my friend hanging himself. thankfully that was only a dream and this is only a photograph of a prop.
http://www.lomograph(…)os/14282593 after a day tie-dyeing i fell asleep and dreamed of a where everyone's skin was tie-dyed. next morning i took a picture of a towel i'd done and double exposed it with some friends.
http://www.lomograph(…)os/13807352 this is a park in Carmel, California. With all the beautiful flowers everywhere, the place looks like its a dream already but when i printed this image the slight blur and whimsical colors really remind me of being in a dreamlike state.
Thanks so much for the opportunity, the prize is to die for!!

http://www.lomograph(…)os/14519115 - The Beauty Of My Dreams
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" - When I was young, i don't have plans, didn't think future all i did is to live my day and let my days will leads me to. Then I met my beautiful man, get married and give birth to a wonderful child. Now I realized the beauty of having dreams, of believing for future and making plans. I have so many dreams for my son, for my husband and for our little family. Little by little I know I could make it...

In a dream you are in everything and everything relates to you. You want to sing to the sea but the sea sings to you. You are both lost and found, the good and the bad. you are everything and nothing. You could swallow the world or the world could swallow you. Which will happen first
freyfrey
http://www.lomograph(…)os/13785790
In dreams you fall through worlds and different realities. One minute you are lovers despite all the odds. The next you have skipped forward in time, you are on a beach trying to hold onto her but she has gone and you are in another life. You try to put the pieces together when you wake up but you can't. You wish the dream was reality but by the time you have finished wishing you have forgotten that you love her. Until tomorrow night
freyfrey
In a dream anything is possible. You are still you but tonight you are a child and you play hide and seek in your memories. You play the games you always loved. Wait, no, you FELL in love! Oh dear, you cant remember. As you wake the dream flies away from you, like a kite with a broken string and it's gone.

This photograph was inspired by a dream I had on 'memories'. It is about all these memories that I have from my past, happy, sad, strange and all kinds. The photograph represents how dreams are, hazy, blurred in some places, bright in others. I love how it has turned out. I like to call it, 'Memories of memories'.

When you’re all alone and the world around you still moving at a million miles an hour. You take time out, you go for a walk to think and to dream. Dream to escape reality, to escape the rat race that surrounds you, you dream that there is something out there that may be what you never thought possible. Then the sun sets.. and the moment is captured and represents the dream. Dreams are free.

A Dream, its a journey that you could not do in reality. It is like Aristotle cave man, where the cave man interpreted the world from a shadow of a fire inside the cave about what world look like, but reality its not a monochrome shadows though its reflected reality but lack of details. Therefor its half through of reality. You need to do exposure to get the depth of the details. We might want to set our aperture in order to get a correct light so things not always dark for our eyes, and we need speed to paid attention of the movement so we dont miss momentum that might an important for us to grow up, at last our journey its a composition of life, a continues fragmented frames, which at the end we realize that we already walk in the history with a guts, even just to remember it. Dare to live, dare to dream

I like dreams because you can see all kind off people in it. Mostly I like the image of my grandfather who is resting in peace for about 10 years. I remember the short journeys in my grandfather car while we were exploring our country. And still I remember and the view from the back seat of the car and the smell of that car which brings my memories from the past.

It is common that man meets woman in his dreams. All kind of woman. Some of them you know well in your regular life and the other ones are living only in your dreams. Once I had a dream with a woman in it. Special one. And I felt in love with that woman. I understood that this woman is not real. But she was so special that I did not wanted to wake up at all. And night after night we were living in the dream. Suddenly one day she was gone. I miss her.

One of the most terrible nightmares in my life was the dream where I was an old guy and I did not have any relatives and friends. I was so lonely. After that dream I like to visit my grandmother more often and take more photos of her.

This picture is like a dream to me because:
- I always dream of the sea;
- In my dreams, I live in this island;
- It reminds me of the movie "Arizona Dream";
- Sensia 100 pictures always have a dreamy look;
- I think that besides of the movie I mentioned and kite festivals, only in dreams you can see fishes in the sky... :)

I had a dream, a route not many would consider, it is the road less taken. The dream would lead me on to a rough journey, I would be sailing through the rough sea. Would I be able to make it? I don't know. It was a dream, because I only chose to dream, I dare not embark on the journey. Hence my ship will forever be bottled up, and displayed, as a dream,a once-upon-a-time dream.

I dream about the road ahead of me, I can only dream, because I cannot see the future. It is too bright, too full of possibilities. It is a rocky road, getting to the light will not be easy.

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the fantastic comments. I noticed that some of you were not sure where to write your description/interpretation of a dream. When you make the submission, there is a space for a description of the photo, so you can write your dream interpretation there. Otherwise, please write the interpretation in the comments section underneath your submission (this is after you have completed the upload and you see the photo on the contest page already...the space where others can also comment).
Best of luck to all of you! And we look forward to seeing one of you at IIF in Milan soon!

dreams are like multiple exposures: patchworks of memories pasted on each others, creating a whole, which seems damn real. Nothing is impossible, a submarine textured with the multiple sides of a gigantic metal ball, all enlighten by a great rising sun, making it all surreal! But in a dream, as in multiple exposures shots, everything is possible. More than that, in a dream surprise is the essence, it may be a good or a bad one, but you're never prepared to what's going to happen in the end. If you may prepare yourself to something, it should be that nothing is going to be as expected, just like in a dream.

Competition: What does dreaming look like?
I remember a recurring dream where I remember the days of childhood with a lot of fun, full of friends and everyone was very happy represented the first photo http://www.lomograph(…)os/14365545 , the second represent my dreams about love between people on a more free and unbiased http://www.lomograph(…)os/14235756 , and in the third picture represent another recurring dream in which I appear on a deserted beach talking to myself http://www.lomograph(…)os/14108851 . My job as a photographer has an analog load and playful dream that comes very close to not real, not documentary. My idea was to get the relative time and space and it was clear from the photographs, causing the idea of time extended or fragmented, which are characteristic of experiments belonging to experience the act of dreaming. Also tried to work thinking about the aesthetics of cinema, time and motion.

First Submission: Dream 1- After all the disaster, the task of bringing beauty back to the burnt world was given to me. I spent so many days recreating the flowers and planting each one by hand, until finally I was so tired I could not go on. I laid down to rest for a day. And then I woke up.
http://www.lomograph(…)os/14608916
Second Submission: Dream 2- When I open the book my lover gave me to read, all of the pages are blown away by a sudden gust of wind. The breeze carries them into a dense forest, and I have no choice but to follow the path of pages deeper and deeper into the woods. I gather the lost chapters for hours but the story never seems to end, and now I am lost. Night passes, and as the first light of morning illuminates the words once more, I wake.
http://www.lomograph(…)os/14608761
Third Submission: Dream 3- The Oracle told me I would find the key to the chest hanging from a branch in this forest. Upon reaching the tree in question, however, I see that not one, but five keys hang from this same limb. The Oracle never said which one to pick. After much deliberation, I reach for the middle key. As my fingers close around it, I wake up.

i repeat my comment here, just to be sure ;)
There's nothing easier and - at the same time - more powerful than a DREAM. Everyone of us has, at least, one great dream and uses it as the first step to make great changes in his life.
So, in my pictures, i try to interpret these characteristics of dreams through two of the most simple-but-powerful visual things that life offers to us: COLORS and LAUGHTERS.
In my life as in my works, I believe there's nothing as intense as a bright color; nothing as expressive as a loud laughter. Nothing as POWERFUL as a dream and the will of its DREAMER.
Thanks for this great opportunity!

Dreaming. It's art of your own mind. Simplicity and complexity. Close your eyes to see. Taking you farther into your mind the any drug could. Find things your try to hide or find. The deepest colors of insanity and euphoria. Close your eyes to see.

Dreaming is escaping, it is to break free of the constraints of life, without consequence, without change. To be able to dream, by day or by night, is to release trapped thoughts, to evolve lives of their own, and make anything happen. It is to lie above the world and watch it take on a hyper reality, that you are both a part of, but at the same time, merely an observer of. Dreaming, is a key to a new world, that surpasses the emotions, and feelings of reality- a time and place where logic, and sense take a back seat, and absurdity becomes the driver. A key that gathers the confusing, disturbing and mixed-up thoughts of reality and sets them free to re-arrange, led by absurdity, to create a new truth, a new understanding.
What do dreams look like? some dreams can be vivid, so lifelike they lie on the cusp of reality. Sometimes they don't even have a visual manifestation. They can be just a feeling, an awareness of a subconscious state, where the confusion, and thoughts and feelings have already been released, and are replaced by a comforting void of visuals and thoughts- it is a dream, of dreaming.

I submitted the photo. I recognise that I must write about the dream: It is good to dream but reality is also important. We must create a balance between both reality and dreams. A dream can become a reality. A reality can inspire a person to create a dream. The camera can create both a dream and a reality. The image can inspire people to dream while also showing a reality!
