Our man in the community mephisto19 has picked out the winners for his June Rumble Burn, Baby, Burn. Think your blazing hot light leaks made the cut? Check it out after the jump!
Wow, almost 3000 submissions full of burned film and light leaks. It was hard to decide who won the competition and I asked myself: Where does the light leak or the burned part add something to the photo and where is it just taking information away? I tried to find the photos that gained something from the light leak.
Here are now my winners:
A perfect composition of a sea gull and the light leaks. The highlights on top of the feathers repeat the structure and color of the light leaks.
“Lucky 13” – zakguy is right. The light leak frames the kissing couple.
Meditating on fire. She is a burning baby and I love the way the light leaks with the sprocket hole structure grow into the photo.
Here the paperback numbers add a lot to the depth of the photo. The 11 looks like a second person.
Five piggies each for the top four winners. But there is one winner of ten piggy points. His photo shows a combination of burned beginning of a 35mm film plus light leak plus the subject itself: someone lighting a cigarette. Though smoking is dangerous and I stopped it a while ago, this photo shows the “burn, baby, burn” theme best.
Congratulations to all winners! Please also join the July Double rumble and ask someone for a Lomographic date…
