Lomography x Tate Britain: The Vorticists Multiple Exposure Rumble ended about 3 years ago

We've teamed up with Tate Britain and we want to see your most abstract multiple exposures, in order to win camera goodies and tickets to The Vorticists: Manifesto for a Modern World

Alvin Coburn, Vortograph, 1917, Courtesy of George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film

The Tate Britain is currently showing an exhibition of Vorticism, one of the truly avant-garde movements of British history. The exhibition includes over 100 works including paintings, sculptures and the rarely seen Vorticist photography of Alvin Langdon Coburn, claimed as the first ever abstract photographs.

To read all about how an exhibition like this gets put together, and get a 2 for 1 ticket offer, check out our chat with Tim Batchelor, Assistant Curator of the exhibition

After experimenting with multiple exposures, Coburn in 1916 invented a kaleidoscope-like instrument with three mirrors clamped together, which when fitted over the lens of a camera would reflect and fracture the image. Pound dubbed the device a “Vortescope” and the resulting photographs "Vortographs”.

Pretty clever stuff huh?

We want to see your most abstract multiple exposures. Lomographers love the unpredictable effects of multiple exposures, so submit them here and show us what weird and wonderful things you’ve created on film!
