Towards the end of last year, we announced a mouth-watering and extremely exciting collaboration that united the iconic denim clothing brand Wrangler and the analogue experimentalists at Lomography. The response was staggering. Thousands and thousands of you submitted your best shots to three amazing photo rumbles. Read on to find out who won what!
The gorgeous Limited-Edition Wrangler Diana+ that ALL winners will receive!
To celebrate this fantastic collaboration, we asked you to ‘Follow Your Instincts’ and submit your chosen shots to our three Kustom Kulture Rumbles – each with their own unique theme:
Take your inspiration from motor racing, get fast and furious with your photography; burning rubber, streaming lights and motion blurs.
Be a wandering spirit – self-expression is key, make it personal. Images need the lived-in look, self-expression etched into a garment as wisdom lines a face. Take a picture that has character, yours. Be the wandering spirit.
Burnt tones, dirty washes. Each picture, an object of strength: robust, warm, reliable and ready for action, just like Wrangler jeans.
And the Grand Prize Goes to…
Congratulations to our very own tomasfrid – Lomographer extraordinaire and the winner of the Wrangler Grand Prize. His vignetted, worn-out shot of this vintage motorbike with its strangely beautiful color shifts perfectly captured the ‘Working Heroes’ aesthetic. Burnt tones, an object of strength: robust, warm and ready for action. It has it all.

elvismartinezsmith
yeeeehaaa :) thanks a lot and congrats everybody! I didn't have a Diana, that's just perfect :D
marant69
@mephisto19 I did not want to say, but I have exactly your concerns!
anarchy
Shit, I think Stephan is right... All his shots look very much digital indeed when you have a look at them... :( It's a pity these things keep happening, I know you can't prevent people from uploading digital shots, but there should be more precautions made to prevent them from winning competitions, especially prestigeous ones such as this one... Maybe it's as easy as having a look at the meta-data of the digital image file, it could have the info about which camera was used (if it was digital, otherwise it would have the scanner info instead)...
awesomesther
Aww.. what a shame if it really is a digitally enhanced photo :(
Anyway, congrats to all winners esp a few of my lomo-friends there! :D :D
stickyvinny
I have to agree with the previous comments! I also share these concerns!
miss_lisa
woohoo I always wanted to try my luck with a Diana! =) Congrats to all the other winners!

nice winner-foto for the LOMO goes digital contest!! ;)
mephisto19
i do think i see an iphone here on that other shot??? http://www.lomograph(…)os/11596969
susielomovitz
wow! it's absolutly digital... O.O
iaki
please, no more digital winners =(
I wanted so much this diana...and he/she got a LC-A+! and others...it´s so unfair!
iaki
I think the rules are easy, for all the rumbles: 3 tag, camera, location...and this? anything
A lot of us put all the information for all photos, and this guy nothing
marant69
@mephisto19 Yes, i download it and i zoom the mirrors, an IPhone i confirm!! :(
mephisto19
Congratulations to our very own tomasfrid – Lomographer extraordinaire and the winner of the Wrangler Grand Prize. blormore
This news is disheartening :(
rav_bunneh
I love all the time, work and effort that the people keeping it analog in these contests. I thought the rule for every contests was camera, film and at least 3 tags. I don't know if the shot is digital... but if it is then it is shameful.
shoujoai
Yeah, I was so wishing for this Diana and now I'll get it :D
Btw. I'm not sure if the Wrangler competition was explicit analog-only, so maybe it's ok that this guy participated with a digital shoot... but I'd also prefer to have no digital stuff on lomography.com
peropero
I am absolutely disappointed with the judges on this competition.
Everyone else realized the winning picture is digital, how couldnt the judges see it?
anyways, congrats to all the other winners. it is hard for me to see so much true talent among those that could really have made it to the best shot of the competition left to being only 'runner-ups'.
mephisto19
@shoujoai why should lomography run a digital competition? that does not make sense to me....
mochilis
I agree with this camera/film/location/3 tags rule. They ALWAYS ask for it and most of us ALWAYS add them, not having metadata for a photo is a bit suspicious...
mephisto19
the problem is that there are no guidelines on the rumble sites.... so it MIGHT have been allowed to submit digital shots and it MIGHT have been allowed to leave all meta data away, but the thing is that is is not my idea of what the site stands for.... and if it happens once.....
disdis
wow! Thanks!
laurasulilly
Well, I think the reason for this picture to win is quite obvious: it's the same style as the pics which were used for the Wrangler ad itself...he probably even used the same photoshop program to alter his iphone shot ;)
cruzron
hi all! we will look into the case and we will present a prompt and amicable resolution for all. in the meantime, congrats to the winners! :)
mephisto19
thanks @cruzron
brommi
@cruzron: oh yes thank you! =]
iaki
thanks Ron!
aranmanoth
I can't believe I won a limit Diana :O
superlighter
so now I have 2 Diana+! finally I can use one Diana+ with the 35mm kit and the other one for 120film and no more stress! :)
and about the digital photo winner...*#%;§°°
kylethefrench
The only appropriate solution to this problem is to give me 1 million piggies. I think all would agree. :). Congrats everyone, nice work.
horaciorv
The "Winner" have to be kick out of Lomo Community ! this is ridiculous ... how they can not see the pic is a fraud ???
am
A diana whoohoo!
crumpy
Kicking the guy out of the lomographic community is a bit harsh dude. We don't know that there was any deception intended. what if he's just a guy that likes the lomographic style, doesn't have a lomo camera and wants to get involved. granted entering into the competition would be a judgement error, but i think most people would have expected anybody to recognise it as a digital photo, not least LSI employees. I've thought about uploading some 'phone-ograpghy' that I took when I had no money for film (albeit, clearly labeled as digital phone cam pictures). I'm proud of them, and think most people would appreciate them as I do.
One thing is for sure. the rules need to be more black and white, and probably actually Enforced.
congrats to all the winners. there is a great deal of beautiful pictures in that post.
jaded-amore
Anyone who knows lomography should know that its about film photography really, I think thats clear enough. It's just a shame that peoples talents with digital photography can over shadow the people that spend their time and money hoping to get a fantastic shot that embodies what lomography is about.
It would be a real shame if it turns out that the winners shot is digital.
fash_on
congrats to the winners :D some lovely shots there!
but the winning shot makes me sad :(
vicuna
I think that the requirements of tagging camera, location, film and 3 tags should be respected as it is for any lomographic competition... unfortunately it is not the case for the winning picture.... :(
dogma
Congrats guys! and sad that these digital things are happening here :(
gborin
Oh man, shame on me for missing this competition...
shame on the ones who upload digital pics...
And shame on the jury that chose a digital pic as the winner
blue-dog
Oh no that is so sad and dishonest... and puts a depressing note on the day for legitimate winners. And to give the grand prize to an app. that is a want-to-be lomograph. There are contests for diga. people..I did not submit because I did not think any of mine applied to the contest. Now I wish I would not have second guessed myself. Also in the past I have kept out because I did not have the tags, or other information, or photo size needed to be right to be fair. I owned a LCA so I stayed out of the LCA race comp,. just saying...I have noticed that some people do not read the rules and some people do not care about the rules and some of them will win because LSI does not catch it. Today I feel bad for my loved lomography..I got spammed by the spammer and another digital shooter won a grand prize. A very sad day in lomo land today.
blue-dog
So how many of them are I-phone apps, anyway.?.Now I am really getting down hearten.
snoop
@all:
Like Ron said, we are looking into this case. The winning picture and the final selection was done by our partners at Wrangler since they cooperated with us on this competition. As you can see for these bigger competitions we usually have a different set of rules which is being worked out with the partners and a different judging which is then being worked on by the partner.
we will now discuss the brought up issues.
be sure to check the other competitions and keep the good spirt.
We are always looking to get exciting prizes for you and that as many people as possible win.
thanks
michael

kylethefrench
But I still see no support for my solution, 1 million piggies into my account.
atreyuthechild
I understand that due to being partnered with another company the rules might be slightly different. But surely, by cooperating with Lomography - which is 100% fundamentally an analogue photography brand, it goes without saying that submitted photos should be analogue.
By overlooking this they are undermining everything that lomography stands for (promoting an analogue lifestyle) and are simply passing it off as a hipster fad.
Also by default he should be disqualified from the competition for lack of tags/metadata which were a submission requirement.
atreyuthechild
this photo seems to be sporting a generic digitally enhanced border

congrats!
chaoticsense
OMG I just saw my name! Thanks and congrats to all the other winners!
stickyvinny
Spam now too? Lol
@kylethefrench If you get your 1 million piggies, can I have 5? :D
vtayeh
Well besides all the mess with the grand prize, Congrats to everyone else!
kylethefrench
Yeah sticky u could have 10!
crumpy
For the meta data stuff, I'd like to suggest a software solution. E.g the site will not let you submit an entry unless the meta data is filled out. or maybe a prompt upon submitting that forces you to enter the data. just thinking out loud... or (to be precise) with my fingers
gabysalas
@All, please be patient with us as we look into this whole issue. We will keep you posted with news. Also, please remember that Lomography employees are Lomographers as well! Our interest is in the continuation of this wonderful community.
natalieerachel
No friggin' way!!! The grand prize winner wins a TON of stuff! Lucky guy, congrats!
natalieerachel
Wow, I just read all the comments....not cool :(
I have digital photos, but that was uploaded before I had lomo cameras. And I don't enter the photos in any competitions, and they are clearly labeled digital!
willyboy
Lucky douchebags.
historiasdev
anselmialessandro
Yeah!!! Another Diana for me! Thank you! ena congratulations to everyone but tomasfrid

atreyuthechild
yeah, any news on claiming the prize would be lovely :)
fabyen
wow my friends told me about this stuff, I couldn't believe it... So sad that the winner is not an analogue photo... let's hope it was a one time mistake!
zulupt
Wow, I won a brand new Diana+!!! It is the first camera I ever won in a LSI contest. Thanks LSI & Wrangler.
Congrats to all legit winners.
The grand winner shot sound fake to me too but I believe LSI is going to fix this, It is too serious! Most of us spend lots of time and money buying films and cameras and seeing a guy with no camera winning a dream prize like this with a cell phone shot is frustrating (in case all of this is true).
ck_berlin
Dear LSI! The 100 winners (me too) of the Wrangler competition want know how we get our prizes. Please let us know. Thank you.
devoncaulfield
@all Hey guys, thanks for being so patient. We will be getting back to you ASAP because we have a big important announcement to make regarding this competition! Hang tight! ;)
