Printed Transparent Mask for the Supersampler by afd_lsi

The idea of developing a mask for the Supersampler has been already shown. What if I make masks using other materials, software and computers – can it still be called analogue? Using those tools, I made a transparent mask with graphics on it.

Necessary Items:

  • Supersampler and your favorite film to feed her.
  • Graphics Software
  • Printable transparent paper.
  • Scissor, Cutter, Transparent Tape.

The process:

  1. Design the mask using a rectangle as the pattern (37mm x 24mm) divided in for parts (each has 9.25mm). This rectangle will be the guide for the drawing.
  2. Make the drawing that you want, using your favorite software. Don’t forget that each part of the rectangle is a “lens” of the camera and you can do different designs for each for more interesting sequences.
  3. After printing the final drawing, cut it.
  4. Place the transparent mask in the inside of the camera and with small pieces of transparent tape holds it in the desired place. (Be sure that it will not interfere with any of the camera’s mechanisms).
  5. Load the film on the Supersampler and you are ready to go.

The expired film I used for this had much grain than what I expected and it looks so cool with the printed mask!

OK, that's awesome! Adds just the right graphic design touch to the shots - like they would in a magazine. I'd totally do this if I had a Supersampler! Got my vote!
