How is the 635? I have a Yashica mat and I'm considering buying one...
falsedigital
fivedayforcast: Well I've never used the Yashica MAT and this was my first experience with 120 film EVER. As a matter of fact this was my very first roll EVER. So it's hard for me to compare it with other TLRs since I've never used them before. I think it's a great camera though. The lens is really sharp and this particular model can also take 35mm if you can find the mask kit from yashica. It's pretty smooth to focus also. I'm a fan of most Yashica cameras especially considering they're very well built and you can't beat the price! The only thing I don't like about this model is that the view is a little dark. I look through a Rollei before and the plastic SuperHeads TLR and their views were brighter. However I don't think it's that big a deal. There is no light meter either, but not all Yashica MATs have a light meter. So that's another thing to think about. The lens is also an 80mm f/3.5 while the MAT is a 75mm f/3.5
I'd say snag whatever one you can get cheaper. They're both great cameras and pretty similar in features. :D
I hope that helps!
cinzinc
great quality! spot on with the focusing
sugiyamasatomi
that's very pretty! wow!

Thanks. Yeah the 35mm is hard to find and hard to find cheap, but you can actually make the adapter yourself and it will look ok. If you'd like to know how I'll send you a message.
The viewfinder can be brightened too. There are (or should be) 4 small screws on the ends of the lens hood. If you unscrew those and carefully pull off the hood (might hear a cracking sound but it should be ok) you can get to the bottom of the veiwfinder and the groundplate mirror. Take some q-tips and 70% rubbing alcohol and get to work on cleaning it out. This mirror is fragile though. Try drying it with cotton balls then repeat to both sides of the view finder. Let it dry for a bit, check for drying marks and then screw the hood back on.
Hopefully that helped.
