The Future’s so bright that we have to wear shades. by mattcharnock

Recently my favourite sunglasses decided to break. So I decided to make a filter for my camera!

Firstly I took the lenses out of the frame. Then I put the lenses over the lens and traced the circle with a pen.
I considered how I could cut the shape out, fortunately for me I have an awesome father in law who also likes to make things. So; I went to his workshop and hijacked his Dremmel spinny sandy thing (that’s its technical name) and slowly sanded the shape until I had the circle.

I worked at it until it fitted in the housing of the lens.

I shot a roll of Fuji colour and then a roll of Lomo X-pro. The Fuji took on a really nice red hue and had a very nostalgic look whereas the X-pro went very grainy but still had an interesting look

If anyone has old sunglasses feel free to send them to me so I can make more filters!

Great tip and gallery! I love the Fuji shots. The Lomo film looks like you put a nylon stocking over the lens, pretty cool effect! Very clever idea!! And I was going to ask the same thing as stouf - were the lenses polarized? Sure looks like they were. Thanks for sharing!
