The Red Church and the Forces of Darkness
Костёл святого Симеона и святой Елены - Church of Saints Simon and Helena, built 1905-1910. It was a church (really!), later a theatre and film studio, then a church, after ww2 a cinema and now it's a church again. The sculpture (done by I. Gobulev), built in 1996, is symbolizing the victory of the heavenly host over the forces of darkness. Behind the chirch you have a Stalin architecture building what is really a crazy contrast. This photo was shot on film. Taken by haschek with a Lomography Fisheye No. 2 loaded with ISO 400 film in Minsk, Belarus. These tags describe this photo: farmer's boulevard, east europe tour 2009, monument, and chirch. This photo can also be found in the album Farmer's Boulevard East Europe Tour 2009.
