The Lomography Gallery Store NYC & Time Out New York present... New York Love! ended 9 months ago

Love is many things to many people… that look in your lover’s eyes… the smile on a child’s face… or the smell of a warm hotdog cart at 4:30am after subsisting on vodka & cranberry for the past 8 hours.

To New Yorkers, love can be anywhere, because we’re all just a little bit gaga over the city itself. Whether it’s that little restaurant that no one else seems to know about, or the nook of Central Park that makes you feel the most inspired, or that pre-war building that just takes your breath away… the Big Apple has cast its seductive spell on us all in one way or another.

So for this competition, we are teaming up with our new friends at Time Out New York, the people who sing the city’s charms better than anyone. We know you romanticize the city way out of proportion, but we don’t care. We want to see the New York that makes you swoon… the people, the architecture, the tourist traps, the out-of-the-way joints, storefronts and back alleys, the towers and undergrounds, the black squirrels and white pigeons, the concrete vistas and river sunsets… show us the objects of your NYC desire with the best photos you have.

Leave us breathless and googly-eyed and we’ll totally make it worth your while.

One winner will receive an amazing DianaF+ Deluxe Kit – the ultimate DianaF+ package that comes complete with the full collection of Diana+ lenses, the 35mm back, Splitzer, and Cable Release Collar. Be prepared for all shooting possibilities and explore all the diversity of the DianaF+ with complete creative freedom.

Four runners up will receive the most romantic DianaF+ yet, the Mr. Pink DianaF+ Special Edition. Yes, we know your heart is beating faster at the thought of this beauty in your hands. Decked out in hot pink and black, there has yet to be a more swoon-worthy addition to the DianaF+ collection.

Check out the Diana Dialogues workshop happening at the Lomography Gallery Store at 41 W 8th Street in Greenwich Village on Saturday, February 7th from 1pm – 3pm for more info, tips, tricks, and history of the classic cult camera that started 2 revolutions! For more info, contact info-usa@lomography.com.

Here are a few competition guidelines to help you out:

3 images per person. We know your love is deep, but don’t get all clingy, ok?

If possible, please submit images at either 1200 × 1800 dpi for landscape and portrait shots, or 1500 × 1500 for square photos. Other formats will be fine, but if your image is chosen, there is a slight possibility of it being printed in TONY, and the better the quality, the easier it will be to reprint.

Images can be taken with ANY camera, both analog or digital. But we have to be honest, analog images will have a big advantage with the Lomography judges… we don’t mean to be snobs, but we just have big analog love in our hearts, so please don’t rip up our phone number if we we’re not into your Photoshopped images! But a great photo is a great photo, digital or analog. Just try to be honest with us, ok? We’ve been hurt before, so you’ll have to earn our trust.

By submitting to this competition, you grant both Lomography and Time Out New York the right to use your images online, in newsletters, blogs, or in print. You retain all ownership of your image, and neither Lomography or Time Out New York will lend, lease, or sell your photos to any 3rd party.

We’re ready to fall in love… so submit now. The deadline is… yup you guessed it… February 14th at midnight EST.

@strangelilgirl: ideally so... the winning photos would be posted on the TONY website and possibly appear in the magazine...

but this is Lomography, and we are cool with brilliant interpretations... show us something romantic that tells us how much you love new york, and we may just become smitten... you never know... :)

...and one love-letter shot of the view down 2nd Avenue in the dead of winter in the middle of the afternoon. I love NY's canyons and lights.
