Landet - The Cool Bar and Restaurant outside of the City.

4 comments and 4 votesLandet is where I was with my friends from Sweden and from Australia. In red light we looked at people, drank beer and saw a alternative rock duo, boy on guitar, girl on drums. We smuggled sake into the place and had to buy our drinks one floor down because of the lack of credit card terminals on the top floor.

3 comments and 3 votesWhen i moved to Bagarmossen, a little urban district in the south of Stockholm, I did not know of the Söderbysjön lake. But, as I saw all the other kids from school walking into the woods with towels and swimming wear I understood there was something special in there.

Stockholm’s archipelago - Stockholms Skärgård

1 voteAlthough living in a city endowed with numerous green spaces, the inhabitants of Stockholm aspire only to one thing, as soon as the beautiful season returns: live like a Robinson, in an old wooden hut on an island.

1 voteIt's got to be winter to capture the eerie, abandoned feel of the place. You can shoot the forgotten merry-go-rounds, the deserted roller-coaster and the empty fairytale houses.

Stockholm Public Library

by minicooper

1 voteIf you ever visit Stockholm, don't miss the Public Library, as Swedish call Stockholms Stadsbibliotek. One of the most modern buildings, but build in 1928! The building suffered lots of modifications, but every time Gunnar Asplund changed the plans, it got simpler. At first it was thought to be a classic-modern building, but it ended up being a functionalist one.

Gamla Stan in Stockholm

2 votesA couple of weeks ago I went to Stockholm. It was freezing cold, but very charming. I fell immediately in love with the heart of Stockholm, Gamla Stan. The name derives from the term "gamla staden", which literally means Old Town. On the maps and in the literature from the mid 19th century, however, it was being called "staden mellan broarna" ("the city between the bridges") or staden inom broarna ("the city within the bridges"). This is not surprising, since the city of Stockholm was built on islands and Gamla Stan is the oldest and central part of the settlements.

Skogskyrkogården: The Woodland Cemetery

one comment and 2 votesTwo young architects: Erik Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz converted in 1917 a forest on the outskirts of Stockholm in a place really sacred. You don't need to be a believer. You just have to walk around the cemetery to feel the magic of the place.

Södermalm

2 votesSödermalm (or Sôder) is a district of Stockholm, on an island, south of Gamla Stan (the old town). It remained a rural area for a long time. In the 19th century, Södermalm was known as a working class district, with poor wooden houses which burned too easily. The times have changed! Nowadays Södermalm is a trendy district, with a wide range of restaurants, cafés, bars, alternative fashion shops and design galleries, sometimes mixed in the same place. If you want to do shopping, go to SOFO, south of Folkungagatan.

3 votesDo you plan to have only a short stay in Stockholm, but still would like to see or shoot some typical Swedish country houses? Easy! You just have to take the bus 44 or the old streetcar for Skansen, in the island of Djurgården, a royal park near the centre of Stockholm.

Slussen in Sodermalm

one comment and 3 votesSlussen is a metro station and the north area of Sodermalm. Slussen offers you inspiring photo spots, nice galleries, creative shops and cosy places for food and drinks. When you get out from T-Bana (metro), First Use the Gondolen lift to discover a wonderful view over Stockholm, I think I have been there 4 times just for the pleasure to double and double again, enter Gondolen what is a panoramic bar restaurant and get a coffee in a very diplomatic and intellectual atmosphere!!! From the bar, you can see ferries and boats on departures to the archipelago islands and further to Finland, road - bridges to centre Stockholm but no high buildings the horizon is not broken by any bigger architecture, Stockholm is a good compromise between old and new, respectful, careful and useful spaces architecture.
