The Lake of Millefont is a beautiful place to take a walk, see nature, relax and take pictures. It's in the pre-alps, about 70 km from the coast of the Cote d'Azur and the city of Nice. You must leave Nice following the river Var, along the N202 road (west side of the city, near the airport). This road is the direct way to the mountains and you can quickly be in mountainous landscape and still see the Mediterranean Sea :).

The bay of Villefranche and the peninsula of Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat on the Cote d'Azur, between Nice and Monaco are beautiful places to see the sun going down. The wide Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains give you a marvelous calm and peaceful place were many colours are mixed together. Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat is a peninsula, so one side is on the east and the other on the west, thus you can go there early in the morning to see the sun rising, and in the evening on the other side to see the sun setting. The colours are stronger and different when the sun is setting, but that's only my personal opinion... ;)

This little village is a rare photographic, historic and romantic spot on the Cote d'Azur. Sainte Agnes has the official title of the "highest coastal village of Europe"!! Indeed, it's only 3 km far from the sea and 800m high, so you got a great point of view about the whole coast of Menton (also very nice little old town...) and the beginning of Italy, and the pre-alps mountains (Mercantour parc, great place too...) behind you. An old castle (mostly in ruins) is on the top of the mountain and was built at the beginning of the 14th century with the village just below. It was a main place to control the coast and to see quickly the enemies approaching from all around. Between 1932 and 1938 a military base of the "ligne Maginot" was built inside the mountain (it was part of the defensive line between France and Germany and Italy) with big artillery towards the sea and Italy!! Nowadays it's empty and you can visit it without problems, very interesting :)

The Grande Corniche is one of the 3 coastal roads going from Nice to Menton and the Italian border. There's the Basse Corniche (lower coastal road), the Moyenne Corniche (middle coastal road) and the Grande Corniche (High coastal road) also known as the road D2564 (see this link for the exact location of the road: "http://www.cg06.fr/tourisme/parcs-corniche-fiche.html":http://www.cg06.fr/tourisme/parcs-corniche-fiche.html). This road was constructed by Napoleon the 1st at the beginning of the 19th century and was the only way to go from Nice to Menton. Take the beginning of the road in Nice, near of the port, and follow the signs "Observatoire" or "Grande Corniche". It's climbing until 500-800m above the sea and that's why it's one of the best places to admire the beautiful Mediterranean landscapes of the Cote d'Azur. The whole area around this road is a natural park with beautiful forests and a lot of walking possibilities through the park.

It's an 800 m high mountain in the close vicinity of Nice. A beautiful place to see the blue Mediterranean Sea and the city of Nice on one side and Alps on the other. In spring, you can even see sometimes the snow on the mountains in front of the sea! Old ruins of a castle from middle-ages are on top of this mountain. The place is great, romantic and sometimes windy with a very large panorama from the Alps to the sea. You could find many places for picnic, to play football, to relax and dream. Many families are coming there on week-ends to enjoy the place. I like to go there to take photos. It's a great inspiration, between the ruins and the landscape to shoot with any cam.
