Who could have thought that a Non-Government Agency houses a wonderful beach lot area in Calatagan, Batangas? It serves a dual purpose of accommodating trainings for the conservation of our wildlife and has been opened to the public where the income generated shall be used for additional funding of its projects. Because of its location, Calatagan was made the jump-off point for the EcoRescue (ER) live-aboard series. It is a program that aims to transform recreational divers into conservationists by teaching them how to monitor marine parks.

"Bahay Kubo" ni Captain. The owner of this beautiful resort is a friend of my Dad, Capt. Rico Jay Hermoso. They used to be shipmates on board during their seaman days. I immediately fell in love with the place the moment i step foot on it. The view of Taal is perfect not to mention the sunrise and sunset. There is so much that you can do here. On our first day, we rode a boat to the Taal volcano.

Growing up in the metropolis, us kids nowadays have no idea of what the simple life really is. Growing your own food and using the good earth for nourishment is a value all but unknown to most. There are however, places where these things can be taught to the next generation such as Leisure Farms up in the hills of Batangas.

Located at the heart of Batangas, this retreat centre is a nice and relaxing place to reflect and meditate. The capuchin retreat centre which is handled by the men in brown, provides an atmosphere conducive for prayers and photography. The 4 hectare centre boasts spacious greens of gardens and landscapes that will make you crave for more film. Too bad I ran out of film the last time I visited the place. What to shoot? The landscapes and the sceneries are really good subjects! Try shooting those men in brown too! It's a three hour drive from the metro! It's a really cool place to relax and unwind! Try it out and share your photos to the LSI community!

Looking for a place to relax and unwind? Get out of the city and rest somewhere in Batangas, Philippines! Batangas is the HUB for those who want to beat the heat of the sun during summer. Hence, go there during the summer days or when you just feel the need to. Or a Lomo shoot perhaps. I stayed there a couple of times and I always enjoy taking memories with me through my Holga. I give the sceneries and the amenities 5 out of 5. The best shots I had with my Holga were captured at Punta Fuego, Batangas. It is located at the tip most part of Batangas and it is around 3 to 4 hours travel by land from the metro.

Gulugod Baboy (translates to Pig Spine) is a local term for the mountain located in Anilao, Batangas. Locals said that it is called this way because of its contour shape. I already climbed this mountain 3 times with different sets of people. Every climb offers a different experience. It is a relatively easy climb taking just almost 2 hours to reach its peak. The view from the top is great - you have a 360 degree view of Anilao, Batangas Pier, Maricaban Island and other mountains.
