My first experience of the camera was that its small, but once in use it doesn’t seem to be a problem. For a entry level compact it has quite a lot of features. 6 different flash modes of which I’ve used 2 so far – Fill in flash and Red eye reduction. For the majority of the shots I turned the flash off and so far I’ve been really pleased with what results the lens has shown.
The lens itself is a 38 – 80 mm multi auto focus zoom, to say that I’ve been impressed by its optical quality is a understatement. The results have been everything I could have hoped for, using Ilford Delta 400, the tones and contrast in my view are close to a SLR.
One surprise on this Camera is that it has a Spot Metering Function, by pressing the Flash and Timer button at the same time this sets the spot metering into action, i chose a subject and half depressed the shutter release, then I re framed the shot. As you can see from the shot with my wife and the family cat, this function is a real attribute to this camera and to anyone who wants to experiment on a budget.
