The Frogeye: A Handsome Frog in a Tuxedo
written by zoe191 on March 5th, 2009 , 7 comments (11 votes)

The Lomography Frogeye camera is a black-and-yellow wonder that reminds me more of James Bond, rather than a bumble bee. It looks gorgeous either wet or dry. It can dive, swim, float, and shoot underwater. But it looks so well dressed you can even bring it to a cocktail party and it doesn’t look like a scuba diver who forgot to change his clothes. The Frogeye would feel right at home with a martini (shaken, not stirred).

It’s black and smooth with a beautiful shape and a yellow rubber wrist strap. It also comes with a neoprene underwater camera case that you can strap on to your arm or leg for convenience under the water. It’s so lightweight it floats so you don’t have to worry about losing it.

If you’re shooting underwater, there’s no need to manually advance the film after every shot. The camera does it automatically so you can quickly take a picture of a school of fish swimming under the sea (up to 4 meters).

It makes pictures similar to the LCA. It has a wide-angle lens and it has a light meter that tells the camera when to fire the built in-flash. The pictures it produces have great colors and lovely vignettes. You might think they were taken by a Russian spy, but no, it’s just a Frogeye. Haha!

Use it when snorkeling, use it in the swimming pool, use it in the bathtub, use it in the shower, use it in the rain, use it at a party, use it at home, use it anywhere.

Here are some of my photos. I’ve used the Frogeye both in and out of the water and it’s fun.
