Vredeborch Stafetta Duo - A 50's Vintage Camera
written by abcdefuck on December 27th, 2008 , 12 comments (5 votes)

I always wanted to have a medium-format camera, but i’m a poor student. On one lucky day, i found this camera and was really amazed that the camera works. So my way led me to the next camera-shop and i bought an Ilford 100 Delta 120. I was very cautious with taking pictures, because my thoughts were always of the price for the film, 5€. That was twice as much as i paid for the camera. I realized that the numbers for focussing the camera and the name of the camera are missing, so i looked for in the internet, what took me one hour. Anyway, the Stafetta-Duo is totaly amazing and one of my first choices for bright light.

The S-D has 3 shutter settings: 1/25, 1/50 and B. As well, two aperture settings: a sun and a cloud. I prefer 1/50 in combination with the cloud, to play safe with 100 ISO films. I didn’t try the yellow filter, because i just uses B/W films yet. The S-D also has a hot-shoe, i checked it and was marveled that also this was working.

Checking the first roll, I noticed the vignetting and the blurry corners. So, i totally felt in love with this camera. There’s just one thing missing. A cable release connection.

Nice cam and superb review. Like no 8 most. The yellow filter frankly is for B&W, makes the sky darker, clouds get stronger.

Hi. I've got three of these Vredeborchs. They come with different names: First as Felita in 1957, then renamed Felica the next year. Also known as Klimax, Reporter Junior and Bunny (and maybe other names too). Grey or black. The Stafetta-Duo or Felica Duo has two red windows on the back, and it is possible to change formats between 6x6 and 4x4. It is common that the decals fall off when the glue dries. I've got one black and one grey Felica in good shape and a Reporter Junior (I believe, because of the bottom and top silver edges) without decals. They cost me 2, 1 and 3 euros.
It is very compact for a medium format, light but sturdy. Unfortunately the flash contact does not sync with electronic flashes. The cloudy and sunny apertures are f8 and f16.
Your photos are very nice and represent what you can expect from the Felica: Softness, vignetting, nice borders and vintage character.
