Photos of the Week is back in black! This time we’re going back to basics and focusing on the medium that defines analog photography: black & white. This is what got most of us started in the first place. Do you remember that distinctive smell of developer and fixer brewing magic in your make shift darkroom downstairs or the dingy one at school? I sure do! And a quick look at the Photos page would tell that you guys still do as well!
There’s just something about black & white shots. It maybe the incredible amount of contrast, the finest grain no digital sensor can replicate, the eerie noir feel or even just purely the nostalgia it gives you. If you haven’t started shooting in mono, try out Ilford HP5 and Kodak Tri-X to get you started – both are considered two of the best B&W films out there! If you don’t have access to a darkroom, you can still get on the black & white train with Ilford XP2 and have it developed like regular film.
So without any delay and further ado whatsoever, here’s this week’s monochromatic selections! Enjoy!
