Fantastic4 - A quadruple experience with the LC-A+ & Splitzer
written by grenoouille on April 19th, 2009 , 33 comments (15 votes)

Back in March last year was launched the Me, Myself and… my double life contest for which I teamed with Vicuña for a very special doubles made with the LC-A+ & Splitzer dream team. I had a long wish to do a Splitzer double with someone and this contest was the perfect occasion to try it out. Our first attempt was on an Agfa APX 100: Vicuña did the right side of the shot and I did the left one. Amazed by the results we did another attempt with a Velvia 100, sharing this time the top and bottom of the image. Another triumph! These Splitzer doubles were astounding!

The results were really out of the ordinary and gave us another perspective to doubles. When you do a conventional double with a friend it is often disappointing for the one who is doing the first layer because his shots remain too much in the background. With the Splitzer the share of the image is better balanced while keeping the superposing/merging effect!

Why had no one think about it before? We were totally excited by this new idea and its outcome. Therefore it was quite naturally that we started considering all the possibilities offered by the Splitzer stuck on the LC-A+ and the first one that came up to our mind was… a QUADRUPLE!

4 different lomographers
4 different regions of the world
4 different films
4 different apertures of the Splitzer

The only thing we were missing were 2 other Lomographers equipped with the LC-A+ and the Splitzer. Stéphane who has a good knowledge of the Lomo community quickly found 2 names: Lyocell and weechonghooi !! It wasn’t hard to convince them to join our cause: a few guest book entries and within an hour the Fantastic 4 were born. We quickly started brainstorming sessions via emails on how to start the project, when, for which achievement. Everyone brought his own enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity. And the icing on the cake: Lyocell offered us his wonderful web design skills to create a dedicated amazing webpage to host our project.

After 9 months shooting, writing, sending and exchanging films, processing and designing, we are proud to introduce you to our Fantastic 4 Splitzer experience! Enjoy an amazing trip through a merged vision of Malaysia, Switzerland, France, Italy and even Burkina Faso where our APX 100 traveled with Vicuña! Please come and have a look to our work and share your feelings with us!

You can see all our galleries at our website: http://fantastic4.lyocell.ch/
