You’re fairly new to Lomography, so tell us a little about you?
OK, my name is Charlotte Colwill, and I was born and have grown up just outside of Ipswich. I’m 20 soon to be 21 in a couple of weeks. I’m studying for a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. My whole family are right Suffolk and are all farmers, so I’ve grown up with dogs, horses, cows, sheep, pigs and tractors!
What is Lomography & has your discovery of it changed your life? If not do you think it will?
Urm its not massively changed my life, but I’m so glad I have it in my life now. Wherever I took my digital camera I now take a lomo camera as well! I also have started developing my film at home, so I spend a bit of time doing that..
Has the Lomography addiction set in yet?
haha, I check my lomo page everyday, so yeah pretty much!
You currently shoot with a horizon kompakt and have done a few rolls through a fisheye, but what camera is next?
oooh there’s a question, if money was no object I would love a Diana + F, but its a bit out of my price range at the moment! But what I really want is the holga cmy, it’s my birthday soon so fingers crossed!
You are an illustrator by heart, is there any way you will combine this with Lomography in the future?
At college I used to draw little monsters on developed negatives, then use an enlarger to develop the photos, that was pretty cool, maybe I will have to dig them out!
Which of the 10 rules of Lomography do you think relates best to your style of shooting?
’Don’t think’, but that’s not difficult for me, also ‘shoot fast’ I hate people fafing about, just take the damn picture!
Give every Lomographer 4 reasons why they should come to IPSWICH, UK to shoot?
Because:
1. I live here so does Tom Oliver!
2. Its beautiful – the Orwell Bridge
3. By the sea
4. I’ll give you a ride in a Tractor!
Who is your hero?
Blimey, lots of people. I could say all the cliché ones like my family, my boyfriend, my cat… so I will
Chocolate or cheese?
Cheese of course! But I like the sound of chocolate and cheese on toast..
Thanks for replying to my questions so quickly Charlotte and for letting me borrow your horizon kompakt!
