Make Your Own Kaleidoscope!

The fisheye lens already provides you with the round shape, so you already have 50% of the work done – now
all you need is to fill it :) The guidelines are simple (read `em once and forget forever, since there are really no ruleZ) :

1. Choose the object that will be dissolved into mosaic elements.

2. Choose the point in the frame. The point might be in ANY place of the frame. Let’s call it the “central point”.

3. Shoot multiple exposures of the object on the same frame, rotating the camera around the “central point”.

There are several options:

a) propeller: 2 o’Clock, 6 o’Clock, 10 o’Clock

b) snowflake: 2 o’Clock, 4 o’Clock, 6 o’Clock, 8 o’Clock, 10 o’Clock, 12 o’Clock

c) Russian Red Star: you choose the times

d) you name it :)

Don’t forget to forward the aperture switch one or even two steps because of the multi-exposure.

That’s it! Shoot objects of various shapes: trees, seashore lines, buildings, windows, people etc. Experiment with various central point locations: they might be in the center of the frame, inside or outside of the object or maybe even outside of the frame :) Let the fractal nature to contribute its part.

Then last but not least: while you shoot each exposure, you cannot see the others: be analog – the certain asymmetry in the pictures makes them even more natural
