Two lomo enthusiasts, who felt bored after shooting each other, decided to look for new friends. They hunted around for a local lomo community but to no avail. To satisfy their insatiable hunger for excitement, it was apparent they had to do something about it. Nine days later, on the 27th October 2006, Lomotion Singapore was born. Within months, more and more kids were added to the happy family. They all share the same aim of spreading the love for lomography.
Outings after outings, rolls after rolls, they decided to piece up the fun they had together and celebrate the friendships that had developed over time. In October 2007, Lomotion held its first exhibition named Tikam Tikam, at Maad @ Red Dot Design Museum. The exhibition boasted three gigantic lomowalls, consisting of a thousand over stunning lomographs and attracted hundreds over people over two days.
Following the success of Tikam Tikam, Lomotion has gradually evolved from a small lomo community into a boundless forum for sharing snapshots and also to foster experimental photography. To date, there are over 1900 members and the large number is still growing spontaneously.
The big happy family is now looking forward to its second forthcoming lomography exhibition, Playground. It’s about how lomography empowers one to escape from daily routines, squeezes creativity out of lackluster everyday lives and turns ordinary space into an extraordinary playground. Showcasing the fun-filled insane lives of over 100 lomographers, Playground seeks to meet more lomo playmates.
The two lomo lovers are still very much in love with lomography and their future is still filled with endless fun and colours.
With lots of lomo love,
